Preservation Hall is home of some of the hottest sounds you’ll hear anywhere. This cramped little joint was built as a private home way back in 1750. In 1961, it became dedicated to schooling folks nightly on the joyous beauty of traditional jazz music. There’s no dance floor, no bar and no drinks allowed. Sometimes there isn’t even a place to sit! But what there is, is 180 proof undiluted New Orleans jazz.

An Uptown institution if there ever was one, Tipitina's got its start back in the 1970's when legends like jazz pianist Professor Longhair would light up the stage. These days, local heroes like Dr. John always stop by when they’re in town. Great live music nightly. On Sundays, don't miss the Cajun Fais-do-do with Bruce Daigrepont, a tradition here for years.

The Palace has long been one of the best regarded upscale restaurants in the city. Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse are two of its most famous alumni who have worked in its kitchen through the years. Of course, Prudhomme went on to strike gold at K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen, and Lagasse has turned TV stardom into two fine restaurants in town, Emeril's and NOLA.
