Designed and constructed by German-born and educated architect Dietrich Einsiedel in 1891, the Brewery was the largest independent brewery in the south and the tenth largest single-plant brewery in the country. Today the building is no longer a brewery, but the selection of merchandise is still intoxicating. Located in the heart of the French Quarter, The Shops at Jax Brewery offers four full floors of stores, attractions, kiosks, restaurants, bars, and cafés. Throw in some breathtaking views of historic New Orleans and the Mississippi River, and it's not a bad outing to mall.

This spot on the riverbank was used as a trading post by Native Americans long before any of us ever showed up. Eventually, it became a Farmer’s Market in the early 19th century, and it’s been attracting tourists and bargain-hunters ever since. They’ve got everything you might want at this lively market, and probably even a few things that you didn’t KNOW that you wanted. Souvenirs and doo-dads large and small are everywhere, and further down the way, you can find the same fruits and vegetables that got the market going nearly two hundred years ago.
